Cosmetic Treatments
Dentistry is no longer just a case of filling and taking out teeth. Nowadays many people turn to cosmetic dentistry, or ‘aesthetic dentistry’, as a way of improving their appearance. They do this in the same way they might use cosmetic surgery or even a new hairstyle.
The treatments can be used to straighten, lighten, reshape and repair teeth.
Cosmetic treatments include veneers, crowns, bridges, tooth-coloured fillings, dental implants and tooth whitening. In complex cases may even include periodontal surgery – which involves shaping the gums.
Aesthetic Veneers, Crowns & Bridges
We use high quality porcelain for all veneers, crowns and bridges. As well as being metal free, they are long lasting and very natural looking. E-Max and Zirconia are the material of choice.
The E-Max dental material is considered to be a best and is a form of all-ceramic crown which provides best aesthetic appearance. It has an appealing translucent color and is highly durable with extra strength.
A zirconia restoration is made of a strong, biocompatible material, zirconia which is also used in medical applications like artificial joints. It is a well-known, type of all-ceramic crown which significantly improves the tooth appearance that has been previously disfigured or stained for years and is significantly tougher than E-Max.
Aesthetic Dentures
An aesthetic denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They can either be complete and partial dentures.
Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A Partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.
Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.
Tooth Whitening
If you have either naturally yellow teeth or are an avid black tea or coffee drinker than the best form of whitening is that provided at a dental practice.
If you would like a quick but short lived option of whitening your teeth then laser whitening would be the choice. This is where hydrogen peroxide gel is placed on your teeth and ultraviolet light is used to active it. You can have as many sessions as you like but cost are per visit.
The second option of the home-kit is longer lasting and has been shown to last as long as 2 years and more. Impressions moulds of your teeth are taken to make a customised guard that is very thin and comfortable to wear and hydrogen peroxide gel is given to you to use only a daily basis for 2 weeks.
